Honesty
Software you trade with is only worth trusting if it's honest — including about itself. This page is the complete account of how TickAhead works, where its data comes from, and the lines we will not cross.
Your privacy, by architecture
- Your trading data lives in your browser. Your journal, strategies, and settings are stored locally on your own device. They are never uploaded, and there is no analytics or tracking of any kind inside the product.
- Your account is an email and a license key — that's the entire record we hold about you, plus the subscription status Stripe gives us. We know whether you've paid. We don't know what you trade.
- Your data exports to one file you own — and imports back, on any machine. If your subscription lapses, the product switches off, but your journal stays readable and exportable, forever. We gate features, never your data.
- We couldn't read your journal if we wanted to. If we ever offer optional sync, it will be end-to-end encrypted — built so that we still can't.
Where the data comes from
Plainly: the included market data is free public data, fetched directly by your own device. It can be delayed and isn't guaranteed live — good for context and journaling; not for execution timing. Crypto is real-time. For live futures, connect your own data provider in Settings — your subscription, your credentials, your entitlement.
| Data | Source | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Prices & candles | Public market endpoints, fetched by your device | Delayed, best-effort — honestly labeled in the product. Not execution-grade. |
| Crypto | Binance public API | Real-time, free, no account needed. |
| Live futures (optional) | Your own provider — TopstepX, Alpaca, or Polygon today; more on demand | Your credentials stay on your device and talk only to your provider. |
| News headlines | Finnhub, with your own free key | Free-tier rate limits apply per user. |
| Insider trades | SEC EDGAR (official, public) | Form 4 filings, parsed directly. |
| Congress trades | Quiver Quantitative, with your key | Third-party disclosure data. |
| Econ calendar | Federal Reserve & BLS published schedules | FOMC, CPI, NFP — verified against both daylight-saving regimes. |
| Strategy engine & journal | Your own rules & trades | Every backtest, robustness check, and journal statistic is computed on your machine from your own data — plain, inspectable math. No AI model predicts prices; no server sees your trades; results are honest descriptions of history, never forecasts. |
Things we will never do
- Sell trade signals or predictions. You author every strategy; TickAhead tests the rules you write and shows its work. It never pretends to know the future.
- Sell or mine your trading data. Your journal is private.
- Use dark patterns. No fake urgency, no engagement bait, no notification spam. We optimize for your results, not your screen-time — and that survives any business model.
- Hold your data hostage. A lapsed subscription switches the product off — but your journal stays readable and exportable, always.
- Lock you in. No contracts and no cancellation runaround — cancel anytime, keep access to the end of the period you've paid for.
Affiliate disclosure
Some links in the product's Resources section, and the referral link optionally attached to anything you share, may earn TickAhead a commission at no cost to you. This never influences the data or content shown anywhere in the product — and you can turn the share link off in Settings.
We also run our own affiliate program: people who refer TickAhead earn a commission on subscriptions they bring in, at no extra cost to the buyer, and the price is exactly the same whether or not you arrive through a referral link. Our affiliates agree to promote TickAhead honestly — no spam, and no income, profit, or performance promises (we don't make those, and neither may they). Full rules are in the affiliate terms.

- Trading is risky. Futures and other leveraged instruments involve substantial risk of loss. Only risk capital you can afford to lose.
